OPA Award of Excellence!

I am very happy and proud to announce that my painting "Sunday Morning Frost" has been given the "John Marion Pardy Landscape Award of Excellence' at the Oil Painters of America's (OPA) 19th Annual Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils held at Legacy Gallery in Scottsdale, AZ.

This award is a special one, established by the family of John Marion Pardy, who was a lover of all things outdoors, who instilled a love of the land in his family, and who had a great love of art and music, traditional oil painting in particular. The annual award was set up by his daughter as a way to honor her father and the gift of these loves that he passed on to her.

That's a very special story and makes me even more proud to have been the recipient of it.

Oh you REALLY deserve this. This is one of my all time favorite paintings that I have seen of yours posted here. I am just amazed at how you captured the snow like you did and the feeling of snow in this scene. Congrats!!

What an honor to be recognised for your beautiful painting. I always feel awards help validate not just that painting , but all the years of hard work that came before. Congratulations Marc.

This is a perfectly spectacular painting. It so captures the cold and the winter light. I'll come back and look at it in August when its a hundred degrees in Kansas!!

Congratulations!

Congratulations! It is an honor that you deserve. You work is sensitive, yet strong. It draws the viewer in to look and see more. They become wrapped in the mystery you create. Beautiful!

No surprise there, Marc. An exceptional painting....puts you completely in the cold air of a frosty winter's day.

Mark, I was just looking at a snow scene you painted that is hanging in Jon Brownings office in Columbus. I said, Mark is an artist that really understands winter. Congratulations on that well deserved OPA award - again!!!

Thank you ALL very much for the kind words. It was an honor and I'm very proud to have been the first recipient of this ongoing award.

The person who set up the award contacted me and told me why she established this award for OPA. Out of respect for her privacy I'm not going to talk about that, but will say that through our conversations I now know that this was a very special one to receive. Aside from it's normally being a special OPA Award of Excellence, and due to circumstances, it was probably meant to be.

Things work that way sometimes don't they? :)
