Beautiful, I love seeing the muted down violet masses in the distance helping to showcase the dots of color on display.

Thanks Joan.

Hey Greg... Thanks.

There isn't too much color in the way of leaves left around here. But I found that along the river some of the gold is still hanging on. Very nice find. Tomorrow it's probably going to be all over. We're expecting rain all day long and that will probably knock the remaining leaves off.

Thank you Marian.

Thanks Brian. It's a great combination of color to work with. Today was calm, sweetly warm and the light saturated the color beautifully. Fun.

Hi Jesus. Thank you very much!!!

Beautiful! I like your use of color, with the golden yellow and the violet. Lovely, moody piece!

Great work Marc, full of wonderful subtlety. The softness that you have created is just beautiful, great edges.

Hi Nicole... Thank you. Mother Nature provided the color. :)

Amanda... I appreciate it, thank you. The scene was unbelievably soft and smoky yesterday. When I'm painting something like this, I let my reactions to what I put onto the surface be my guide to how well I'm capturing what I'm seeing and sensing.

For instance, in this painting, any brushstroke or piece of color that went on either got an 'Ahh...' or a 'Uh oh...' reaction from me. I'm not standing there uttering these reactions out loud, but I feel this in my soul and react to them by redoing the stroke or leaving it alone.

The final look of the painting, how well I managed to capture the mood of the scene, has a lot to do with how well I make these judgements. Some days I'm more sensitive to this than others.

Mark, wow, so beautiful. You are the master of soft and subtle grays and so awesome at capturing light and atmosphere. Those are the things that really attract me to a painting and to a scene.

The soft violet and gold of the trees with the bright blue and red of the foreground, are magical. The way the colors support each other without imposing over the other. The light of the day rests in their combined beauty.

Jacki thank you for that comment. You mentioned the things that capture my interest in painting a subject.
