"Slate Blue October Skies" - oil - 11x14 © Marc R. Hanson 08

If there is any such thing as a 'perfect' fall afternoon, this afternoon was it! Only made it out for a couple of hours but the time was worth it, every second. Who knows if there will be another day like this until...crying...April or May!?!?

dianne... It was a color study, that's for sure. I only had one spot to pull over on the rather busy road that looked safe. There wasn't much to work with in terms of opposing lines and all of those other design elements that we usually look for. I added the little tree and cast shadow on the right just to help alleviate some boredom of the 'horizontal' ness of the land in front of me. I should say that I stole the little tree from out of my picture plane's area to use. Thanks Dianne.

Some really lovely paintings here. The one with the boats is very nice, especially the reflections on the water.
