These are some little 6"x6" paintings that I'm doing to enter into a show called '6" Squared' that is being put on by the
Randy Higbee Gallery in Costa Mesa, CA in March. They're good to do for a few reasons, one if they get into the show, that will be good, but also because I find them to be a good way to experiment with ideas, color, paint application and all of the other 'art' tools I have. If one works you learn something to use in the future, if one doesn't you usually learn even more. Thanks for looking.

Marc, these are so full of energy and exciting colour.... they really speak to me. Good luck with the show. Are you still prepping the panels yourself?
Love your use of light.
These are both wonderful, Marc, although I'm especially partial to the second one. Your ability to portray light in your paintings always leaves me in awe.
Thanks for sharing!
beautiful use of light ins such a simple way.
Marc - I'm really looking forward to seeing your 6 x 6 inch paintings in person at Randy's! These two turned out beautifully.
Nice Marc. It is the Ooomf! of the painting that is most critical. These have Ooomf!
Beautiful...both of them. I'm partial to a square format.
I love the paintings that you have been posting on your blog! I especially like the light in the sky of these two paintings. It is really beautiful!
Whew! Sure like the paint application on that bottom one.
They are looking awesome Marc! I really like the bottom one.
Love that "Hotspot" one. I think Randy first saw your work when I took my little 5x7 from your first April marathon in to have it framed and he asked me about the painter, i.e., you.
These 2 paintings made me very emotional, (in a good way)! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for all of your comments... :)
Maggie these are Pintura panels that I over prime with an alkyd primer. The alkyd primer varies from one that I get from Zecchi's in Florence, Italy to W/N's, to an pro grade Sherwin Williams interior alkyd primer (which I really liked but it's no longer being made).
The 'Hot Spot' painting has that color that all makes us drool when we see it in real life, so it's not surprising that it seems to be a favorite of the two. I'm a little disappointed in the photo of the 'Awakening' piece... it's just not that warm.
Thanks again... I truly appreciate your comments.
love that bodacious orange flash!
One of the most beautiful landscapes I've come across in a while. You make that amazing flash of orange look so natural and easy. I'm glad to have found your blog!
