Some good advice on building more blog appeal!

I just read a spectacular post from Lori McNee's 'Fine Art Tips' blog about how to give your blog post more artistic sex appeal. Her blog article is very good, full of wonderful tips and ideas. When I get the time I'm going to implement as much of what she suggests to do as possible.

Until then... I thought I'd start with this, an incredibly talented artist... the late Marvin Gaye! :)

Well I'm serious about the good information that you wrote about. It was all very good stuff! It was my pleasure to share the link and I suggest that Everyone gets over there and does some reading. I know that my own blog writing habits are to 'just get it done', not proud of that, but it's usually being written as a secondary part of posting the art. What you wrote about has convinced me to pay more attention to the rest of it also... so thank You.

But... I just couldn't let it go without some 'artistic sex appeal' until I can do the work on it. :)

What a great song and artist! I have noticed recently that you have loosened up a bit on your blog posts. The other day I had to scroll up to make sure who it was and that's when I noticed the much shortened (and better) title. I look forward to getting to know the artist behind the work!

Thanks so much for Lori McNee's link! It's everything a good blog should be... great links, great pictures and great information. It should be Required Reading for any new bloggers. On the other hand, if every blogger took her advice, I wouldn't do anything else but read blogs all day.

Btw (that's probably bad form but essential for wordy nerds), don't knock your own blog, You have the best pictures, the best links (like Lori's) and you're VERY generous when answering comments. Oh, and OMG, you have Marvin!

I love your blog. Your PAINTINGS, especially...they're worth more than a thousand words, to borrow from that old cliché.

Most of us spend too much time reading and looking at blogs. My feeling is: keep the text meaningful and to the point. Sometimes "meaningful" requires more words, not always.

Most of all, be true. That's what your paintings feel like. That's why I visit.

Marc, your paintings are the sex appeal and are what readers come back for. The verbal content is supplementary. I loathe being pandered to and can spot it in an instant and I'll bet your other readers can too, plein air folks being a discerning lot. Neat and clean, not looking home-made in the inept sort of way is good, but then there are a number of good templates (like the one you use) that take care of that. You're doing good; now get out there and paint!
