If it was in my back yard, I’d call it a big lake. Beautiful clear soft yellow light this morning. Windy though. I’m ready for that to stop.

I love this old barn and farmhouse. It’s on a Pheasants Forever piece of property and would make a perfect backdrop for a hunting scene painting involving flushing birds and setters. Sad too that it’s about to be taken down if the activity around the property is any indication. I’ve painted around here a lot but not this specific view of it.

I set up to paint a fully lit pasture with cows and a nice fence line weather break of short trees. Very Italian looking. Then the entire landscape went into shadow except for one ribbon of light in the distance. It didn’t last to long, but I decided to go for that effect anyway.

This was the reason I’m late. I had come home to feed the cat and then ran out to paint this the last of the day. The light wasn’t as rich as I expected it to be and the wind seemed to have increased it’s velocity. None the less, I liked this one just for it’s sense of the afternoon.

I really do like this last one especially. Somebody or some bodies really are sitting on the site with a quick finger to grab these babies up, because I was too and it didn't do me any good... [-:
Hi Vicki... Thank you. Believe it or not, it was actually slower tonight and last night than it has been. But is some 'bodies', lots of different buyers, who are good at typing fast. There are a lot of paintings to come, believe me (I dream about it now) so hang in there.

You are right about the yellow light. It gives "Remnant" a very nostalgic feel.
Marc, great work. I'm really impressed with your technique on the leafless trees. I never really had much interest in creating landscapes this time of year, but you've definitely changed my opinion. They're all fantastice, but I love the last one.

There you go Jeffrey. That's as good a reason as as any to be a painter. There is a group, don't recall the name now, who's goal is to catalog barns. They're calling on anyone who has the interest to go meet the barn owners and get history and photographs of these beautiful pieces of our history and submit them to the organization. As a painter I think that a photographer would be the best candidate to document these relics of a time past. There are just too many of them for a painter to be able to 'paint' them all in time.
